Tisch Asia’s Artistic Director, Oliver Stone will head the jury of the Asian Short Film Award, one of the highlights of the inaugural Screen Singapore to be held in June 2011.
Film talents from the region will be vying for the best Asian Short Film Award and the winner will go home with S$20,000 in cash and lots of exposure to the industry.
“This award is a way for us to reach out to any citizen or permanent resident of an Asian country.” says Aubeck Kam, CEO, Media Development Authority.
He adds, “Asia is in a very exciting phase of development right now. Clearly, the film industry has a lot of potential for growth.”
Six major Hollywood studios such as Warner Brothers and Universal are taking part in Screen Singapore. Talks are also underway with other overseas studios, such as those in India and China. The eight-day Screen Singapore will see red carpet events every evening. Tisch School of the Arts Asia is a supporting organization of Screen Singapore.
