Farming Luxuries, a documentary thesis by Alice Ho ’11 (MFA, Kanbar, Film) was selected to participate in the prestigious CCDF (CNEX Chinese Documentary Forum) in Taipei, Taiwan. The forum consisted of an intensive three-day training session, pitch practice and case studies with a distinguished group of international documentary experts, which included Li-xin Fan, director of the award-winning documentary Last Train Home and Kim Min-Chul, producer of the award-winning documentary Planet of Snail.
On the last two days, the participants pitched their projects to international broadcasters and received one-on-one meetings with film commissioners. At these meetings, the duo explored market opportunities, co-production opportunities as well as feedback for creative enhancement of their project. Film Commissioners include: ITVS, National Geographic Asia, BBC, Creative Partnerships from Sundance Institute, Sunny Side of Doc, and First Hand Films.

Alice attended the forum with her producer and fellow Tisch School of the Arts Asia colleague Chun-yi Hsieh ’11 (MFA, Kanbar, Film). Her thesis project was also selected to participate in the 2011 Documentary Doctor this past summer.
