New York University Tisch School of the Arts Asia students Anya Leta ’11 (MFA, Kanbar, Film) and Gilani Moiseff ’12 (MFA, Kanbar, Film) are set to have their short films featured in two festivals – the Jaipur International Film Festival (JIFF) held in India and Flickerfest, the biggest short film festival in Australia.

Breaking the Way by Leta will compete with 122 other nominations at JIFF, the world’s fastest growing film festival, 27-31 January 2012.  Breaking the Way depicts a challenge faced by an American widow traveling from her tranquil ashram into urban India.

Moiseff’s short film, The Champions, has been accepted into Flickerfest. Over the last 21 years, Flickerfest has grown to become Australia’s only competitive International Short Film Festival with entries coming from filmmakers across the globe.  Filmmakers now view it as one of the main festivals on the world circuit.

The film  is about the Champion family, who are quite attracted to their lovely new neighbor next door. When they discover he is an exorcist, they devise their own unique brand of demons to entice him into their home.
